good to know
- how does it know the surface?
- every 20 metres of your GPS track is matched to the nearest road or path on OpenStreetMap, smoothed over about 100 metres, and sorted by that way's surface tag.
- what does the score mean?
-
each surface has a roughness weight, from 0 for asphalt to 5 for rock. the score is their average over the ride's distance, scaled to 100, so a ride that is all asphalt scores 0.

the example ride above scores 16.
- will it touch what I wrote?
- no. the lines go below your text, and you can edit your part any time. if a ride is analysed again, gritmeter replaces only its own block.
- how accurate is it?
- as accurate as the map. where a road has no surface tag, gritmeter guesses from the road type and shows how much it had to guess. it is tuned on rides in Czechia. indoor rides and rides without GPS are skipped.
